The Top 10 Dollhouses For Boys

Who says dollhouses are only for boys? My own son, Chase, started playing with mine when he was still in diapers. Honestly, if it wasn’t for him I might not be doing what I am today or even writing this blog post. But here we are!

Some people think that only girls can play with dollhouses, or dolls for that matter. But I’ve never subscribed to gender roles. I make him do the same chores I do and also encourage whatever his interests may be, especially if it involves dollhouses lol

Role-playing helps children learn basic life skills like empathy, nurturing, and compassion. Plus, it helps encourage creativity and provides a safe space for you to see how they process information or talk about what is on their mind. I actually learned about one of Chase’s crushes during some playtime in the workshop. One thing I have definitely learned is you never know what they’re thinking or what they’re going to say!

These days, it is so easy for us to fall into the virtual world, be it online videos, games, social media, etc. Adults are just as guilty as kids! I try to encourage Chase to use his imagination in other ways that don’t involve a screen and dollhouses are the perfect way to do that.

I understand though, that boys play differently than girls and are drawn to different things. So I’ve scoured the internet and found some of the coolest “dollhouses” out there that will excite and delight them.

by Tender Leaf Toys

  • Weight: 23.06 lbs
  • Height: 23.6″

Encompassing a lot of the same features as the Excalibur Castle (listed previously), it is slightly bigger with more realism and also has a moat – which is a castle necessity in my opinion.

the Farmyard dollhouse

The Farmyard

by Le Toy Van

  • Weight: 9.31 lbs
  • Height: 20.4″
  • Width: 22.8″
  • Depth: 9.5″ (definitely seems deeper than this, but that’s what the specs say)

This one reminds me of my days of playing Sim Farm, but way cuter. Has plenty of space to let your imagination run wild and take care of animals instead of interior furnishings.

For The Thrill-Seeker

Airport playset

Airport Playset

by Fat Brain

  • Weight: 5.1 lbs
  • Height: 7.2″
  • Width: 16.51″
  • Depth: 14.5″

Now that COVID is over, who isn’t traveling these days?! If only real airports were as awesome as this one. Passengers stay entertained as they place their bags on the spinning luggage carousel, check their flights on a light up departure screen, listen to music, and wait for their flight to arrive – overseen by the air traffic control tower. Comes with the airplane and people so delays are a thing of the past!

Bat Cave Playhouse

The Bat Cave

by DC Super Friends

  • Weight: 6 lbs
  • Height: 22.5″
  • Width: 16″
  • Depth: 6″

  • Width: 8.5″
  • Depth: 4″

More like a house-boat, but far from going on a leisurely cruise! The front of the ship has a working shark’s mouth that can swallow up prisoners and then lock them away in the ships hull. There’s even a hiding spot for treasure, naturally.

Harry Potter Castle

Harry Potter’s Castle

by Wizarding World

  • Weight: 6.68 lbs
  • Height: 15″
  • Width: 24″
  • Depth: 7″
  • Material: plastic

Can you keep a secret?! I got this for Chase for Christmas!! He has developed a love for Harry Potter this year and I knew I had to get it for him when I saw it. There are interchangeable themed rooms that you can move around and practice spells with the whole Hogwarts gang. I can’t wait to give it to him and see his reaction!

Hope this helps prove my point that dollhouses aren’t just for girls and helped you find something any kiddo would love to play with! These truly are so much fun and any gender would love to play with them. I know I would!
